A Transformative 3-Day Workshop with Dr. Budi Miller

We are honoured to be hosting an upcoming Weekend Intensive Mask Workshop led by Dr. Budi Miller—a globally recognized teacher and practitioner with over three decades of experience across continents, teaching at Yale School of Drama, NYU Tisch School of Arts; Dr. Miller was the first Black Head of Acting at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne. This will be Dr. Miller's first ever workshop in the UK.

Join us for an immersive experience integrating transformative actor training, where the power of masks becomes a focal point for deep embodiment of a role.

Unlock deeper layers of your craft by merging spiritual practice with performance technique. This intimate 20-hour training offers actors a unique opportunity to work with a collection of specially crafted healing masks, designed to empower and transform both your character development and personal journey.

We will explore profound techniques including Fitzmaurice Voicework and Mask Work, to unlock creative potential and develop new dimensions in performance. These practices allow performers to deepen their voice, engage their physicality, and embrace a variety of rich, cultural artistic traditions.

Through a combination of Balinese Taksu traditions, energy awareness, and embodied movement practices, this workshop guides participants in exploring their spiritual connection to performance. Whether you're new to mask work or have prior experience, you’ll gain tools for profound transformation and creative empowerment.

DR. BUDI MILLER

Dr. Budi Miller is a globally recognized figure in the field of theatre and acting, with a career spanning over three decades across multiple continents. He made history as the first Black person to serve as the Head of Acting at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne, a role he held for seven years.

As Co-Artistic Director of The Theatre of Others and Director of Advanced Training at the Fitzmaurice Voice Institute, Dr. Miller integrates a wide range of somatic and energetic practices into actor training, including Balinese Performing Arts Training (BPAT), Mask Work, Fitzmaurice Voicework, Michael Chekhov, Clown, Viewpoints, and Grotowski techniques.

Dr. Miller has coached performers across multiple mediums, including Michelle Williams for her Academy Award-nominated role in Brokeback Mountain and Jonathan Majors for Lovecraft Country (HBO), Creed III, and Ant-Man III (Marvel Universe). He has also worked with Julian Elijah Martinez (Wu-Tang: An American Saga). His work spans Broadway, HBO, Netflix, Showtime, and international film markets.

Certified in Bioenergetic Healing and Theta Healing, Dr. Miller's teaching focuses on releasing trauma and unlocking emotional blockages to enhance performers' physical and emotional presence. His integrated approach emphasizes the connection between mind, body, and spirit to help actors develop their full potential on stage and in life.
